Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital between Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), United Surgical Partners International (USPI), and local physicians. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private inpatient rooms, and a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.
Baylor Medical Center at Uptown is currently seeking a Physical Therapist in the Physical Therapy Department for PRN opportunities.
JOB SUMMARY
The ideal candidate must have strong orthopedic skills and be comfortable working with a variety of post-surgical patients. The Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates, plans, and implements treatments for hospitalized patients according to age-specific needs. The PT reviews with the patient and caregiver the current diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment goals while planning and implementing a safe and timely treatment plan. The PT collaborates with the referring physician when needed and completes all patient care documentation concisely and timely.
Work Schedule: 1-3 weekends per month and some weekday coverage. Holiday coverage: at minimum, one major and one minor holiday.
Position required skills for the PT include:
- The PT evaluates, plans, and implements treatments for hospitalized patients according to age-specific needs.
- The PT reviews with the patient and caregiver the current diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment goals while planning and implementing a safe and timely treatment plan.
- The PT collaborates with the referring physician and other hospital staff when needed and completes all patient care documentation concisely and timely.
- The PT provides input or support for facility training opportunities in ergonomics, body mechanics, and patient handling for staff as well as peri-surgery education for patients/families.
Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
- Maintains continuing education credits as required by the State.
- Minimum 3 years orthopedic experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Current license in the State of Texas.
- Current BLS required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledgeable of current treatment protocols and rehabilitation equipment.
- Minimum Experience: 3 years; Preferred Experience: 5 years.
